Combined October sales of 11,232 units by the Honda and Acura divisions represented a 13 per cent decrease over last year's sales. "While we had just returned to full production in October after a 6-month disruption caused by a parts shortage from the March earthquake in Japan, we are now faced with another parts shortage resulting from the devastating floods inThailand," said Jerry Chenkin, executive vice president of Honda Canada Inc. "Honda has announced that it will temporarily adjust automobile production at all of its Honda vehicle assembly plants in Canada and the U.S. Vehicle production will be at about 50 per cent of the original plan for all Honda and Acura vehicles through November 10. Subsequent adjustments will be announced as they are determined, based on the parts supply situation.
"We express our deepest sympathy and concern for the victims of the floods in Thailand with the sincere hope for the earliest possible relief and recovery. Also, we deeply regret any inconvenience this production disruption may cause to our customers. We are working closely with our suppliers and operations throughout the world to overcome this situation as quickly as possible."
