2012 Honda Insight Debuts

Honda's refreshed Insight is now making its way to U.S. dealerships with redesigned 15-inch wheels, a redesigned front fascia and an improved interior. Fuel economy on all models have been improved to 41/44mpg city/highway, an improvement of 1mpg each on both city and highway thanks to friction reducing measures done in the engine and the CVT transmission. Noise insulation has also been beefed in the new Insight by up to 2%. 




Insight Base
Honda's 2012 Insight base now starts at $150 higher at $19 120. Rear-seat headroom has been improved by 0.6 inches and the instrument cluster has been revised along with a slimmer rear wiper motor and rear spoiler to help increase rear visibility. 


Insight LX
The LX model is up $225 from the 2011 model starting at $20 895. Upgraded seat fabric and a more supportive front armrest are the new features on this trim level. Otherwise, the LX carries over a 4-speaker sound system with a USB audio interface, floor mats, map lights and new this year, a security system and steering wheel audio controls. 


Insight EX
The most value can be had in the new Insight EX, up $325 in MSRP to $22 585. Automatic headlights, synthetic leather and fabric and a leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob adorn the interior. Otherwise, paddle shifters, alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, a 6-speaker sound system all carryover from last year. The navigation system is now priced at $1725, down from $1775 last year and includes a rearview camera. A 16-GB flash memory system is used in the new system compared to the old hardware DVD-based 4.7GB.
